Detained for peacefully standing for workers’ rights
Rubén González is a Venezuelan prisoner of conscience detained for peacefully standing for workers’ rights in Venezuela. He was arbitrarily arrested on 29 November 2018 by the General Directorate of Military Counter Intelligence (DGCIM) for allegedly having attacked a military officer. Despite him being a private citizen, he was sentenced by a military court, denying his right to a fair trial. There is no reliable evidence against him. His detention and trial are unfair and politically motivated, and therefore he must be released immediately.
